LECTURE; Portfolio Preparation and Presentation Techniques
Tevfik Fikret Uçar, The journey started in 1966 in İstanbul… Since that moment he tried to appreciate his name… (Fikret: Thought, idea, mind, wisdom.) First he tried to study at Paint and Paint Chemical Department at Maçka Vocational School in İstanbul, then he learned that his main job is “to learn”… More and more the idea of “every image has a special adventure”, started giving him a hard time. During his study at Marmara University Graphic Design Department he learned how much he needs to learn in the visual ocean. He graduated in 1987. After experiencing at advertising agencies he started to follow a dream in Eskişehir. He was going to be a foot soldier of a new art and design school… Right in the middle of Anatolia…
He studied at Art Center College of Design in Switzerland campus as the first Turkish student. It was so exciting to learn by teaching at Anadolu University. He shared what he knows in USA, Belgium, Germany, China, Cyprus with many students. After 38 years from the first day, they put the title of Professor in front of his name, he is still trying to get use to it… Thousands of people were so kind to get his book called “Visual Communication and Graphic Design”. Whetre he know their name or not he had many students and masters. Since therteen years he has been working with the most beautiful project called Evren (cosmos). On the wall of the department that he is the chairman of, writes “We speak with words, communicate with concepts, graphic design is the transformation of these concepts into form”…
About the lecture, the artist is going to have at FotoFest 2012;
“Portfolio” is an edited collection of their best artwork intended to showcase an artist’s style or method of work or a company woks. That might be images on paper, as slides, on CD or DVD or WEB. Itself portfolio’s design is extremely important as well. Most of times well made, quality works might loose it’s own quality in a badly designed portfolio. Presentation is important, as well as preparation of a portfolio.
