Encounters – Transformation of the Spaces
Photography, in its 180 year journey, has brought with success all those moments that we don’t experience from regions, countries unknown to us. In our century which is shaped by industrialism, where the traditional and modern collide, cultures are continuously struggle with eachother, the very presence of photography is a big chance for finding an harmony in all the difference.
We are all aware that there’s no history without time and space. Even the human is only possible with the places that they are in. No matter who or what we photograph, our shadow metaphorically transcends to the place of our subject, whereas this constitutes the unrejectable history of photography. The third dimension, de facto lost in photography, might be won again by the usage of the space appropriately.
Bursa Photofest, 1st International Bursa Photography Festival is literally building a bridge between east and west and bringin different cultures together. Festival suggests a new vision to the medium, by transforming photographic places and exhibition spaces.
Bursa, which is a serious candidate for being the new capital of photographic art with its historical identity, striking nature and different aura; is preparing to welcome its guests from all over the world to its hans, bazaars and streets. This beautiful city is putting centuries of civil experience into life once more and becoming a fellow to many world cities, by opening her arms to photography which is defining the world flow since almost two centuries.
With the ambitious goal of making tens of thousands of people think about photography with all aspects and presenting them new images, Photofest is becoming a very important milestone in cultural development of the city. At the same time, with its rich program competent with major photo festivals around the world, renowned guests, extraordinary exhibitions, slideshows, workshops and training for the children, Bursa Photofest is filling a large gap.
Having 1st International Photography Festival with “Encounters-Transformation of Space” theme, Bursa is undoubtfully the new capital of photographic art.
