Mustafa Bilge Satkın/ Scarecrows
Are these scarecrows being placed in fields only to scare the birds away, discouraging them disturbing crops? This is at least what was written in the books of the elementary school. Traditionally, scarecrows are made of natural products of what one can find around, putting a hat, dressing them in old clothes.
What we can see at the photographs of Mustafa Bilge Satkın is different than this scarecrows characterization. In his photographs taken from the different places of Turkey, he demonstrates these extraordinary scarecrows, with a determination of a diligent photographer’s eye, turning them into a work of art.
