Ergün Turan was borned in Istanbul in 1961. Graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, department of Public Administration in 1986. Between 1987-1990 studied Political Science in Istanbul University and Psychology in Bogaziçi University as master programme. After 1990, concentrated on photography. In this respect, graduated from Mimar Sinan University, Faculty of Fine Arts department of Photography in 1999.
In 2002 photography album “BİZ’ , a collaborative study with the association of Süreyya Yılmaz Dernek, was released which was prefaced by Orhan Pamuk. Thereafter, published “Siyah Beyaz Negatif” in 2004 and “Siyah Beyaz Baskı” in 2007 by Say Publications. An anthology of photos from “BİZ” had been exhibited in Istanbul Modern Muzeum under the name of ‘Insan Halleri’.
Within his academic life, has lectured in Marmara, Haliç and Doğuş Universities on Basic Photography, Knowledge of Light, Black and White Photography, Visual Communications, Philosophy and Theory of Photography, Interdisciplinary Art, History of Photography, Art Philosophy, Art Sociology, Documentary Photography and Advertising Photography.
He is still lecturing as Ass. Professor at Faculty of Fine Arts, department of Photography in Marmara University.
