Aditya Arya started professional photography in 1980 after graduating in history from St Stephens College, Delhi University. Following a brief stint in the Bombay film industry, Arya shifted back to Delhi and has since gained eminence as a travel, as well as food, advertising adn corporate photographer. He has been published widely in travel magazines and by book publishers. Notable among his works are the extensive travel and documentation of Nagaland, titled The Land of the Nagas published by Mapin, and the first ever exhaustive visual study of the masterpieces of Buddhist art at the Alchi Monasteryin Ladakh.
Arya has been curator and organizer of several photography shows in Canada, USA and India. Over the last couple of years, he has also been completely immersed in the subject and practice of photographic conversation. Uncovering the historic photographic works, pouring over the thousands of negatives and vintage prints, honing his skills and knowledge on preservation, restoration and archiving. Arya has played a pivotal role in the formation on India Photo Archieve Foundation.
